FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino issued a sweeping update Saturday on the bureau’s ongoing operations, emphasizing efforts to remove violent criminals, secure the border, and protect children from predators.
In a post on X, Bongino pushed back against what he called misleading media coverage of the FBI’s work and outlined key initiatives, including aggressive immigration enforcement and a renewed crackdown on child exploitation.
“The workforce has been working overtime on task force operations to remove dangerous illegal aliens from the country,” Bongino wrote. “If you came here illegally to prey on our citizens, your days here are numbered.”
He said these efforts are ramping up and will intensify in the coming weeks. According to Bongino, combined with the administration’s push to strengthen the southern border, the operations are expected to bring about a significant reduction in crime.
On the issue of child safety, Bongino highlighted “Operation Restoring Justice,” which he said has already resulted in the arrest of 764 individuals across the country involved in crimes against children.
“We are going to take your freedom if you take away a child’s innocence,” he warned, pledging more enforcement actions to come.
Bongino also addressed the FBI’s handling of several high-profile investigations, including the attack on Rep. Steve Scalise, the Nashville school shooting, the Crossfire Hurricane probe, and inquiries into the origins of COVID-19. He noted the bureau’s ongoing collaboration with the Department of Justice in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
“There are large volumes of downloaded child sexual abuse material we’re working through,” Bongino said, also referencing the sensitive nature of victim statements that require protection. “We need to do this correctly, but I understand the public’s need for transparency.”
He also responded to media criticism and defended FBI Director Patel.
“He spends 10 to 12 hours a day in meetings ranging from foreign law enforcement leaders to counter-terror teams,” Bongino wrote. “Any claim to the contrary is a lie designed to undermine reform and shake public trust.”
He closed his message by thanking the public and urging Americans to stay engaged.
“God bless America, and all those who defend Her,” he wrote.
Bongino’s law enforcement career began with the NYPD in 1995, followed by service in the U.S. Secret Service where he was assigned to the Presidential Protective Division under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. After leaving government, he ran for office as a Republican in Maryland and Florida and hosted a Fox News show from 2021 to 2023. He’s also the author of Life Inside the Bubble, a memoir about his time in federal service.
The FBI did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
