The United States and China announced Monday that they will temporarily roll back tariffs on each other’s goods for a 90-day period, following trade negotiations held in Geneva.
According to the White House, tariffs that President Donald Trump implemented on April 2 will be reduced by 24 percentage points during this window, while a remaining 10% ad valorem tariff will stay in place.
China agreed to the same reductions and stated that it will also suspend or eliminate non-tariff retaliatory measures that have been imposed on U.S. goods since April 2. Both countries committed to implementing these changes by Wednesday.
The agreement marks a cooling-off period in what has been a tense trade conflict between the two economic superpowers in recent weeks.
