Monica Crowley will now join the State Department in President Donald Trump’s second administration. She was confirmed by the Senate on Monday night.

Monica Crowley — a conservative author, media personality, and former Treasury official — was officially confirmed Monday night as the new Assistant Secretary of State for Protocol. She’ll hold the rank of ambassador in the role.

A longtime Fox News contributor and foreign affairs analyst, Crowley previously served in the Trump administration and was awarded the Treasury Department’s Alexander Hamilton Award during her tenure.

“Monica will represent the administration at major U.S.-hosted events, including America’s 250th birthday in 2026, the FIFA World Cup that same year, and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles,” former President Donald Trump said in a statement back in December, when he announced her nomination.

Crowley earned a Ph.D. in international relations from Columbia University. Born in Arizona and raised in New Jersey, she began her career working for former President Richard Nixon after his time in office, serving as a research assistant. That experience led to her book Nixon Off the Record.

She joined Fox News in 1996—the year the network launched—and became a familiar face on shows like Hannity and its earlier version Hannity & Colmes. She even made a cameo appearance as herself on House of Cards and hosted her own syndicated program, The Monica Crowley Show.

Crowley has received several accolades over the years, including being named “Woman of the Year” in 2010 by the Clare Boothe Luce Center for Conservative Women.

During Trump’s first term, she stepped back from an appointed role on the National Security Council after plagiarism allegations surfaced regarding her doctoral work. Crowley denied the claims, calling them a politically motivated “hit job.”

The U.S. Travel Association praised her confirmation, pointing to the significant role she’ll play in shaping the country’s image on the global stage during major upcoming events.

“The swift confirmation shows that President Trump is serious about seizing the opportunities in the coming decade,” said U.S. Travel CEO Geoff Freeman. “These events will bring millions of visitors to the U.S., boost our economy, and spotlight the very best of America.”
