Denise Alexander, the beloved soap opera actress best known for her longtime role as Dr. Lesley Webber on General Hospital, has died at the age of 85.

Alexander began her television career in 1966 as Susan Martin on Days of Our Lives. In 1973, she joined General Hospital, where she quickly became a fan favorite and remained a central figure for over a decade. Her portrayal of Dr. Webber, one of the first female physicians on daytime television, helped break new ground for women in the genre.

After leaving General Hospital in 1984, Alexander had a brief stint on Another World before returning to GH in 1996. She continued to make guest appearances on the show until her final appearance in 2021.

Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025, but the news of her death was not publicly announced until May 9. General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini honored her memory, calling her a pioneer and praising her for paving the way for future generations of women in daytime drama.

Tributes poured in from fans and former colleagues, including Days of Our Lives star Susan Seaforth Hayes, who remembered Alexander for her kindness, talent, and the powerful legacy she left behind.

Denise Alexander will be remembered not only for her iconic roles but also for the grace, warmth, and professionalism she brought to every performance. Her contributions to daytime television continue to resonate with fans and colleagues alike. Rest in peace.
