Hailey Hosford—a 27-year-old hairstylist and yoga retreat instructor known for her light and joyful spirit—was tragically killed in a violent stabbing in a Sunrise, Florida parking garage just after midnight on May 28.
The attack happened around 1:30 a.m. at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village, as Hailey was returning to her car to head home. Surveillance footage shows 21-year-old Jackson Julian Sagesse Jr. approaching Hailey’s parked Mercedes. As she attempted to get inside, he forced the door open and stabbed her multiple times.
A male friend who had just stepped away returned mid-attack and tried to intervene. He was stabbed in the throat but survived and managed to call for help. First responders found Hailey unresponsive at the scene. She was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m.
Police later located Sagesse at his apartment nearby. Officers found two steak knives—one in his pocket, another in his car—matching knives from his own kitchen. During questioning, Sagesse reportedly confessed without remorse, stating chillingly, “I just killed someone and walked away.”
Hailey’s family, friends, and the local community are devastated by the loss. “There’s evil, and there’s good—we lost the good,” said close friend Aubrey Rosebrock. Hailey is remembered as a radiant soul who brought positivity to everyone she met.
A GoFundMe campaign launched in her memory has raised over $14,500 to help cover funeral costs and support her family during this heartbreaking time.
As the investigation continues, those who loved Hailey are focused on honoring her life, spirit, and the joy she brought to so many.
