A celebration turned into a scene of horror early Sunday morning, June 1, when gunfire erupted at a house party in the Mountain View community near Hickory, North Carolina. The shooting left one person dead and eleven others injured, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
The violence began shortly after 12:45 a.m. on Walnut Acres Drive, where about 100 people—including children—had gathered for a pool party. Gunfire broke out outside the home, sending panic through both the front and back yards and spilling into a neighboring property, resulting in a large, chaotic crime scene.
Authorities confirmed that multiple firearms were used in the attack. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, another remains in critical condition, and several others are still being treated in local hospitals.
As of now, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is working with the State Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement partners to uncover what happened.
