We’re used to strange visitors at our clinic—lost cats, injured dogs, even the occasional raccoon. But nothing prepared us for the young deer that strolled in one afternoon like it owned the place.
It wasn’t afraid. It looked right at me, calm and steady, as if it knew exactly where it was. Tied loosely around its leg was a worn leather strap, and tucked inside was a folded note.
“Help us. They’re watching.”
I called the authorities, unsure what I was dealing with. When the responding officer read the note, his face went pale. Without a word, he radioed for backup.
“We’ll take the deer into protective care,” he finally said—words that sounded bizarre even as he spoke them.
Within hours, the story hit social media. Theories exploded—some called it a prank, others whispered about secret experiments, and a few claimed it was part of something much bigger.
And honestly? I’m not sure they’re wrong.
