Celine Dion, the voice behind timeless songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “Because You Loved Me,” is now facing one of the toughest challenges of her life — a rare neurological disorder called Stiff-Person Syndrome.
In late 2022, she shared the emotional news with fans, saying, “I’ve been facing health challenges for a while… It’s been tough.” Though her voice trembled, her determination was clear: she’s focused on healing, with the support of her children and medical team.
At the heart of that support is her eldest son, 23-year-old René-Charles Angélil. While he rarely speaks publicly, he made his feelings known: “She’s more than a singer to me. She’s my hero.”
Since her diagnosis, René-Charles has remained a constant presence — quietly helping care for his mom, lifting her spirits, and honoring the legacy of his late father, René Angélil.
Though Celine has stepped away from the stage for now, she hasn’t given up hope: “My goal is to return,” she said. “But right now, I need to focus on getting stronger — for my kids, for myself, and for all of you who believe in me.”
With René-Charles by her side, that hope is still alive.
