He was living the dream he’d chased since he was a kid — racing under the lights, wearing the same gear he once idolized. Every lap brought him closer to the future he had worked so hard for. But that dream came to a heartbreaking end far too soon, leaving the motocross world stunned and in mourning.
Sixteen-year-old Aidan Zingg died following a crash during a race at Mammoth Mountain Motocross. While early reports suggested a mid-air collision, it was later confirmed that Zingg went down in a corner and was struck by multiple bikes before the race was stopped. Shockingly, he remained on the track, unconscious, for two full laps before officials were able to reach him. The entire tragedy unfolded in a matter of seconds.
Zingg was one of the sport’s most promising young riders. He had recently signed a multi-year deal with Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki and was also backed by Fox Racing. Just last year, he clinched a major win in the Supermini-2 class at Loretta Lynn’s Vault. His future in motocross was bright, and many believed he was on the path to becoming one of the sport’s biggest names.
The outpouring of grief from the motocross community has been overwhelming. Swapmoto Live remembered Aidan as a grounded, humble athlete — someone who never let success go to his head. Motocross analyst Kris Keefer called it a “heavy day” and asked fans to keep Aidan’s family in their prayers. Seven MX, who had known him since he was a child, paid tribute to both his talent and his character.
Memorial service details are expected to be announced soon. For now, the motocross world mourns the loss of a young rider whose journey was only just beginning — and whose memory will ride on in the hearts of many.
