Tragedy continues to unfold in central Texas after flash floods tore through the region on July 4. Among the hardest hit: Camp Mystic, a Christian girls-only summer camp near the Guadalupe River.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced that 23 girls from the camp are still unaccounted for out of 750 attendees. The river swelled to near-record levels during the storm, sweeping through the area with little warning.
Families of the missing girls are holding onto hope as search efforts continue. Many have spoken to local news outlets, sharing stories, photos, and pleas for help.
So far, at least 24 people have been confirmed dead in Kerr County and one in Kendall County. The full toll of the disaster is still unfolding.
