Christian and Alejandro Treviño have remained in custody since January 2022, when the body of Gabriel Quintanilla was found. The brothers, then 17 and 18, were arrested after a younger family member accused Quintanilla of inappropriate touching, prompting the alleged attack.
Their attorney recently requested more time before proceeding to trial, citing pending DNA results from a GMC truck and brass knuckles believed to have been used during the assault.
A third man, Juan Melendez—also charged in the case—was released on bond in August 2022 but appeared in court alongside the brothers on Monday.
Christian faces a capital murder charge and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Alejandro and Melendez are charged with aggravated assault.
The trial, originally set for December 2024, has been postponed with no new date yet. All three are scheduled to return to court on April 7.
