Lee Rawlinson, 51, a devoted husband, father of two, and passionate marathon runner from Essex, UK, has shared his heartbreaking story after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. His message is simple but urgent: don’t ignore even the smallest symptoms.
What started as a dull ache in his abdomen in January was easy to dismiss—Lee assumed it was stress. Even after a GP visit and referrals, he faced long wait times and inconclusive tests. By September, the pain became unbearable. A CT scan revealed the devastating truth: the cancer had spread to his liver, and he had just months to live.
“I’m not scared of dying,” Lee said. “I’m scared of leaving my children and my wife.”
Now focused on making lasting memories with his family, Lee has embraced every precious moment—surprising his children with a trip to Lapland and creating what he calls “magical memories” during what may be his last Christmas.
Lee also learned his grandfather had pancreatic cancer, pointing to a possible genetic link. He urges others to trust their instincts and seek answers early.
“If something doesn’t feel right, push for tests. Don’t wait,” he said. “Early detection could save your life.”
Pancreatic cancer survival rates remain shockingly low, and Lee is determined to raise awareness so that fewer families face the same heartbreak. Through his pain, he’s become a voice for urgency, research, and the power of love in the face of unimaginable loss.
