The family of actor Treat Williams has made emotional public statements following his sudden death in a motorcycle crash at age 71. Williams was killed when driver Ryan Koss turned his SUV into the path of the actor’s motorcycle on a Vermont road.
At the sentencing hearing, Williams’ son Gill wore his father’s jacket as he addressed Koss:
“I forgive you, and I hope you forgive yourself. Thank you for not killing my dad—he was everything to us.”
Williams’ wife Pam and daughter Ellie did not attend, but their heartbreaking words were read in court. Pam wrote:
“Our lives will never be the same. Our family has been torn apart.”
Ellie expressed the pain of losing her father far too soon:
“I’ll never feel his hug again, or have him walk me down the aisle or meet my children.”
Koss, who had originally pleaded not guilty, changed his plea and admitted fault. He apologized in court and was sentenced to a year of deferred jail time, license suspension, and participation in a restorative justice program.
The crash happened when Koss turned left into a parking lot, directly into Williams’ path. The actor was thrown from his bike and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The tragedy has left a deep void in the lives of Williams’ loved ones—and served as a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change due to a moment of carelessness.
