In one of the most moving collaborations in recent country music history, Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson joined forces for the debut of a brand-new anthem, Trailblazer, at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday, May 8.
The ACM had teased the performance just one day prior, announcing the exciting world premiere of a track that pays tribute to the trailblazing women of country music—past and present. Co-written by Lambert and Wilson alongside acclaimed songwriter Brandy Clark, Trailblazer honors legends like Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn while also weaving in personal nods to McEntire, Lambert, and Wilson’s own roots.
“I remember listening to it in the dressing room,” McEntire told Billboard. “I couldn’t find a flaw in it—not a word. It was that great. I was very emotional when I heard it.”
Lambert and Wilson were reportedly brought to tears during the writing process. But the message of the song goes far beyond the genre’s legacy. As Wilson explained, “This could be a song that a grandmother, a daughter, and a grandchild could listen to. It’s not just about the history of country music—it’s about connection.”
Lambert echoed that sentiment, saying, “It’s not about us. It’s about what the song means to little girls watching, or anyone out there with a dream who needs to feel seen, supported, and inspired.”
The performance itself was a highlight of the night. Dressed in coordinating suede ensembles, McEntire, Lambert, and Wilson looked every bit the iconic trio. Each took solo turns on the verses, coming together in tight harmony on the chorus. Their finale—hands joined as they bowed to a cheering crowd—was the perfect emotional close to a moment that resonated deeply with fans and artists alike.
The powerful debut of Trailblazer wasn’t just a musical moment—it was a celebration of women’s voices in country music, delivered with heart, harmony, and undeniable star power.
