White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fiercely criticized a federal judge who issued a ruling unfavorable to President Donald Trump, labeling him a “judicial activist” and drawing attention to his wife’s political donations to Democratic causes.
The judge in question, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, recently issued a temporary order halting deportation flights—a decision that drew sharp condemnation from Trump, who referred to Boasberg as a “radical left lunatic” and called for his impeachment.
Leavitt doubled down during a press briefing, claiming that Judge Boasberg was trying to undermine the President’s authority to remove foreign nationals deemed threats to national security. She argued that the President’s actions are fully supported by the Alien Enemies Act, a statute that gives the executive branch the power to expel non-citizens from hostile nations.
The White House also criticized the administration’s refusal to disclose the identities of individuals recently deported to El Salvador. Officials say those individuals are linked to violent gangs, but details remain scarce.
Leavitt emphasized that deportation flights will continue, asserting that the President “absolutely has the constitutional authority” to protect the country from violent threats, regardless of the court’s temporary injunction.
Judge Boasberg, an Obama appointee, has long faced scrutiny from conservatives, who accuse him of partisan leanings. His ruling has now triggered calls for impeachment from within Trump’s political base.

Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, a vocal Trump supporter, backed the initiative and reignited her push to impeach President Joe Biden—a resolution she previously introduced during the last session of Congress.
Meanwhile, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) announced his intention to introduce articles of impeachment against Judge Boasberg, joining a growing number of Republican lawmakers aiming to hold federal judges accountable for what they see as partisan rulings.
Critics, including some legal scholars, warn that Trump and his allies are attempting to undermine judicial review—a bedrock principle of American democracy that ensures no branch of government can overstep its constitutional limits.
