Former drug addict transformed with drastic $38K smile makeover

Brittany Negler, a 29-year-old from Philadelphia, faced a heartbreaking loss that would completely change her life. When her 18-year-old brother passed away suddenly, the grief was overwhelming. Struggling to process the tragedy, Brittany turned to drugs to numb the pain.

As her addiction took hold, it began to severely impact her health—especially her teeth. The deeper she sank into substance abuse, the worse her oral health became. She lost several teeth, and the ones that remained were decayed and infected. It became a vicious cycle: she felt ashamed of how she looked, which fed her addiction, and the addiction made everything worse.

Eventually, Brittany made the brave decision to get help and begin the road to recovery. As part of her healing journey, she saw a dentist hoping to fix her teeth. But instead of encouragement, she was hit with devastating news: her teeth were beyond repair. The dentist pulled what was left, leaving her without any teeth at all.

Physically and emotionally drained, Brittany couldn’t chew food and dropped to a dangerously low weight—just 77 pounds. Her doctors even considered putting in a feeding tube. Her self-esteem hit rock bottom, and she withdrew from the world, ashamed and hopeless.

Then, something incredible happened.

She crossed paths with Dr. Kenny Wilstead, a well-known cosmetic dentist in Texas who’s known for giving patients life-changing smile makeovers. Touched by Brittany’s story and her determination to rebuild her life, Dr. Wilstead offered to help—completely free of charge. He performed a full dental reconstruction worth over $38,000.

The transformation was stunning. Using state-of-the-art dental implants and prosthetics, Dr. Wilstead gave Brittany a brand-new smile. For the first time in years, she could eat, speak, and smile with confidence. The moment she saw herself in the mirror, Brittany broke down in tears—this time, tears of happiness and gratitude.

But the new smile meant more than just cosmetic change. It marked a fresh start. With her health improving and confidence growing, Brittany began reclaiming her life. She’s now a passionate advocate for addiction recovery and dental care, sharing her journey to inspire others who feel trapped by shame or past mistakes.

Her story is a powerful reminder that healing is possible—and sometimes, it all begins with something as simple and life-changing as a smile.
