New details emerge in shocking death of Anne Burrell

Celebrity chef and Food Network favorite Anne Burrell has died unexpectedly at the age of 55. She was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17, 2025. Despite efforts by first responders, she could not be revived. An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.

With her trademark spiky blonde hair, fiery energy, and infectious love for cooking, Anne Burrell was a household name and a beloved figure in the culinary world. Best known for hosting Worst Cooks in America, Anne brought humor, heart, and no-nonsense guidance to viewers across the country, turning kitchen disasters into confident home cooks.

Born in Cazenovia, New York, Anne’s love for food started early, sparked by her mother’s homemade meals and the inspiration of Julia Child. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, she quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a fixture on the Food Network with popular shows like Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Chef Wanted.

Anne is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton; his son, Javier; her three children, Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas; and several close family members. In a statement, her family called her “a light that touched millions,” and said her warmth, generosity, and boundless love will live on.

Beyond the kitchen, Anne was deeply committed to giving back. She supported causes close to her heart, including juvenile diabetes research and food insecurity through organizations like City Harvest. She also served on the advisory board for the Garden of Dreams Foundation, bringing joy and opportunity to children facing adversity.

Just days before her passing, Anne shared a joyful Instagram post, radiating the same passion and vibrant energy her fans had come to know and love. In what would be her final interview, she reflected, “Your food knows how you’re feeling when you cook it.”

Anne Burrell didn’t just teach people how to cook — she taught them to believe in themselves.

And that’s a legacy that will never fade.
