Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., expressed strong dissatisfaction with her party’s direction in a series of social media posts and public statements on Friday, warning that her frustration reflects that of the Republican base.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Greene said she believes her views mirror those of grassroots conservatives. “I represent the base and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy,” she wrote. “When you are losing MTG, you are losing the base. And Trump isn’t on the ballot in the future, so do the math on that.”
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Greene praised former President Donald Trump and criticized Congress for lagging behind in implementing his agenda.
“President Trump just delivered the most successful first 100 days of any president in history,” Greene said. “Illegal crossings at our southern border are down 99%, tens of thousands of illegal alien thugs have already been deported, inflation is down, and gas prices are dropping. President Trump and his administration are doing exactly what the American people voted for in November.”
She argued that congressional Republicans are falling short in supporting Trump’s policies. “While the White House moves at record pace, Congress is failing to do the job we were sent here to do,” she said. “Democrats passed more of Biden’s agenda under Pelosi than House Republicans are passing under Speaker Johnson. The Republican Party must pass and codify President Trump’s policies and executive orders into law. Our job really is that simple.”
On foreign policy, Greene expressed alarm over the potential for U.S. military involvement in Iran. “I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran,” she posted. “I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries—especially ones with nuclear weapons and strong militaries.”
She also voiced strong opposition to a recent U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal, in which a fund will be created to support natural resource projects in Ukraine. The agreement includes revenue-sharing through royalties and license fees and may include additional U.S. assistance, such as air defense systems.
Greene questioned the purpose of the deal: “Why on earth would we go over and occupy Ukraine and spend an untold amount of future American taxpayer dollars defending and mining their minerals, as well as potentially putting American lives at risk and risking future war?” she asked. “Why don’t we just mine our own rare earth minerals that are tied up on federal lands that the government confiscated years ago?”
She also revisited the topic of the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines, criticizing the continued approval and use of mRNA vaccines.
“I campaigned on accountability for the communist and tyrannical acts made by the government during COVID,” she said. “Yet the COVID vaccine still has FDA approval even though there are millions [of] reported injuries and deaths, and this mRNA vaccine is known to have horrific side effects and DOES NOT STOP PEOPLE FROM CATCHING COVID. And to this day, it’s still on the childhood vaccine schedule—why on earth is this happening?”
