Late one night, five-year-old Mia made a trembling call to the police:
“Please… can you come? Someone’s under the bed. I’m scared.”
Her parents tried to reassure the dispatcher, insisting Mia was just imagining things. But something in her frightened voice made the dispatcher send officers to check.
When they arrived, Mia clutched her teddy bear and led them to her room. Nothing appeared unusual at first—just some toys under the bed. Then one officer paused. They heard a faint scraping sound beneath the floor.
Curious, the officers pried up the floorboards—and discovered freshly dug soil and a hidden metal hatch. Beneath it, a narrow tunnel snaked through the neighborhood.
Backup arrived, and after a full search, police found three escaped convicts hiding underground. They had been digging for days—quiet enough to fool the adults, but not little Mia.
Thanks to her courage and intuition, the escapees were caught, and the tunnel sealed. That night, Mia finally fell asleep knowing she’d been heard.
