Genevieve Chenneour, 27, known for her role as Miss Clara Livingston in Bridgerton, showed remarkable courage when a teenage thief tried to steal her phone at Joe & The Juice in Kensington, west London.
CCTV footage shows 18-year-old Zacariah Boulares sneaking up behind Chenneour while she was out with a friend and her dog. The teen, a repeat offender, grabbed her phone and assaulted another customer. But Chenneour quickly reacted, blocking Boulares and retrieving the phone. A four-minute struggle followed, during which she defended herself and stopped him from fleeing.
Chenneour said, “They didn’t expect me to stand up for myself – but I did. Getting a coffee shouldn’t be something you need your wits about you for. I’m so grateful to the staff at Joe & The Juice – they were incredible.”
Boulares, who previously threatened singer Aled Jones during a Rolex robbery in 2023, pleaded guilty to robbery and assault at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and will be sentenced on July 17 at Isleworth Crown Court.
A source praised Chenneour’s bravery, noting the incident reflects the rise in street crime—London alone saw over 70,000 phone thefts in 2024.
